Waterlefe is situated on the banks of the tranquil Manatee River is located near Bradenton, off Upper Manatee River Road. The course incorporates conservation areas, surrounding marshes and the scenic river, creating vistas of extraordinary grandeur and drama. The course opened to the public on February 2, 2000, and has since experienced increased interest in, and appreciation of, its spectacular location and design. If you look at the world’s finest courses, they all have one thing in common - memorable holes. Waterlefe shares at least that much with the world’s finest, for it has not only memorable, but unforgettable holes. Designed by course architect Ted McAnlis, Waterlefe is composed of not one, but a collection of signature holes. This par-72 golf course starts, touches and ends on a particularly beautiful section of the Manatee River, replete with wide expanses of pristine marshes and pleasant coves. Golfers shouldn’t be surprised if, while on the 15th tee, a family of manatees is spotted, poking their noses up for a breath of air. In developing Waterlefe, a great amount of time, effort and expense went into protecting, and where necessary restoring, the very environment that gives the course its unique character. Within its competitive layout, the course presents a challenge for all golfers, who have the opportunity to customize their game with five sets of tees for each hole, playing 6,908 yards from the back tees. From any of the five tees provided, Waterlefe presents an unrivaled golfing experience.
