The Leadbetter Junior Golf Academy at IMG in Bradenton is offering adult instruction beginning in October. This is a special program designed to give area golfers a chance to benefit from the renowned Leadbetter instructors.
This special for area students features:
- A beginner program starts Oct. 9 and runs every Friday for six weeks. The cost for four mornings is $499 with additional Fridays costing $75 each. Each morning consists of three hours of instruction and lunch at IMG Academies.
- A half-day session is $150 (usually $245). It includes three hours of instruction and lunch at IMG Academies. Student must be able to provide a Florida’s driver license with Manatee or Sarasota addresses.
The lessons can be booked www.imgacademies.com or by calling Lynn Dorton at 941-752-2453. The following quickie tip is just one of the things you will learn during the fall sessions.
Quickie Tip
Putting can be broken down into two key elements: line and pace.
If you get these components correct, you’ll make the putt. If you want to get the ball rolling more consistently on the proper line, simplify your motion. Remove any unnecessary motions such as your hands and elbows from your stroke.
The correct grip can help. Hold the putter high in the palms to discourage the hinging of the wrist. Put your thumbs on top of the putter and roll both hands slightly under the grip. This will bring your elbows into your sides. Now keep the triceps attached to your body during the swing and you can eliminate excess elbow motion. This should get you rolling the ball more consistently on your ball target line.
