Put Calusa Lakes Golf Club on your list of one of the must-play courses.
When she isn’t selling property in Stoneybrook of Sarasota or Heritage Oaks, realtor Nancy Casey likes to play golf. She came away impressed with Calusa, which just re-opened Sept. 1 after being closed for several months for the installation of new greens.
“I liked the wide fairways with the houses set back behind beautiful mature trees,” said Casey. “We were lucky the golden rain trees were in bloom on almost every hole.
“Both the fairways and greens were in excellent condition. We did find the greens to be a little slow. However, it was late afternoon when we played. The course is challenging but not tricky (I hate tricky courses). Calusa Lakes has to be one of the most playable and beautiful courses in the area.”
The spacious 18-hole championship course is nestled in an environmentally-friendly community and weaves its way through a variety of Florida landscape and wildlife. The pine forest and live oak covered lake banks give a rare mid- Atlantic feel to the course. Along with the surrounding beauty, Calusa Lakes Golf Club is an exceptional course of distinction. Even with its many lakes, the course is player friendly. The rolling fairways, fair landing areas and large greens offer a unique and enjoyable golfing experience.
Calusa, Capri Isles and Waterford are under the same ownership and offer attractive packages to join one club or all three. Visit www.golfinvenice.com for more information. This week, Calusa is celebrating its re-opening with prizes, raffles and 10 percent off clubs and bags.
