Patriot Golf Day - September 4-7 2009This Labor Day weekend, September 4th - 7th, will celebrate the third annual Patriot’s Day weekend. Join thousands of golfers nationwide to raise money for the families of soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Golfers are asked to donate a minimum of $1 at area participating courses to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to provide educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty. In 2008, some 3,800 golf facilities nationwide participated in Patriot Golf Day, raising more than $2 million.

The founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation, Major Dan Rooney is an F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, and has served three tours in Iraq. Major Rooney is also a PGA Professional since 2005 "We have lost more than 4,000 soldiers. They have given the ultimate sacrifice.

America can come together in the spirit of golf and have a dramatic impact. We have an opportunity to make a difference for the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice." says Rooney.

Contact your PGA professional for information on how to participate. Learn more about Patriot Golf Day, the Folds of Honor Foundation and the families who have been helped at foldsofhonor.org or patriotgolfday.com and visit playgolfamerica.com for a list of participating courses.
