Golf Travel: Submit your Photo

Chuck Carroll, an avid, single-digit golfer, has been taking groups to Scotland and Ireland for more than 20 years. His most recent trip may be the last for the Palm-Aire resident.

“We had our share of rainy golf on this trip,” Carroll said.  “The most of any past trips over the years. The courses were green and soft, unlike typical links golf.”

Richard McLean poses at the Old Swilken Bridge at St. Andrews during a recent trip to Scotland. McLean is a member of The Meadows Country Club.

He put together the trip for six golfers. Only two were from the area - Carroll and Richard McLean of The Meadows, another low handicapper.

Despite the weather, they had a good time playing such historic courses such as St. Andrews (old and new) and Carnoustie. If you have golf trips and photos you want to share, e-mail me the photos and details of your trip.

Donald Ross Course at Grove Park

Quickie Tip

When visiting Western North Carolina, make sure you play the Donald Ross course at the Grove Park Inn. It is pricey but spectacular.

“I don't think he ever wants to be looked at like a museum piece,” said Brad Faxon, about Jack Nicklaus, who agreed to partner with Arnold Palmer as the Honorary Starters at the 2010 Masters.
