Sue Ertl to Head New Academy at University Park Country Club
Personable Sue Ertl, LPGA Golf Professional, returns to University Park Country Club for her 13th season as the head teaching professional at the new Golf Academy.
Ertl, a native of Michigan, competed full time on the LPGA tour for 11 years before coming to University Park. Sue keeps her competitive skills sharp by playing a summer schedule of LPGA Legends Tour events, Pro-Ams and State Open Tournaments. In 2005, she won both the Massachusetts and Ohio Women’s Opens.
This summer Ertl played in the Tennessee Women’s Open at Fairfield Glade, a resort area of several hilly, challenging courses. For the second year in a row, she eagled the par-4, seventh hole in the first round, this time from 165 yards.
Ertl is looking forward to an exciting new chapter at University Park Country Club and the introduction of an expansive golf instruction program at the new Golf Academy: two and three-day schools, daily clinics, a weekender school, beginner series, kids camp women only schools and more. Quickie Tip
You must select the speed you want to roll your ball before you select the line. I think trickle, pour or pop. Trickle is when water flowing in a stream would just have enough energy to flow over the front edge. Pour would be energy of the water that would pour into the flag hole, and pop would be the energy of the water to splash or pop off the back of the cup. I simply see my ball riding the stream of water into the hole at one of these three speeds.
- Arlene McKitrick, who just recently won her 152nd career amateur tournament. McKitrick lives on Longboat Key with her husband, John McKitrick. This past summer, Arlene won the American Seniors at Turning Stone near Syracuse, N.Y., and a championship at Tartan Fields in Ohio.
