Tatum Ridge's Ware to Celebrate 50th Anniversary with Fourth of July Gala

Reg WareReg Ware came to the United States from London on July 4th 1959.  At 22, he was a printer by trade.

This Fourth of July, the affable general manager of Tatum Ridge Golf Club is throwing a gala celebration for two reasons. One, it is the Fourth, but it also marks his 50th anniversary of coming to America.

Ware, who became a U.S. citizen in 1977, has a special price for playing Tatum Ridge - $17.76 with the Big Summer Card for both July 4-5. On the Fourth, there will be a barbecue following the morning wave of golf. It will start at 12:30 p.m. at a cost of $8. Family and friends from across the U.S. and from Europe are planning to attend.

After working in Baltimore for 32 years, he came to Sarasota 17 years ago and worked in the pro shop at Tatum. He became general manager 11 years ago.

“It is the best job I ever had,” he said.

Tatum Ridge has a loyal group of golfers. The course hosts some 52,000 rounds per year. It sound like it will be a festive time. Book your tee times early so you don’t miss out. Most area courses are planning special events to celebrate the Fourth.
